Midibus

The RTC Family Is Growing—By Getting Smaller!

RTC has added 64 hybrid midibuses to its fleet to diversify its offer and better meet the varied needs of its customers. This approach is part of the 2018–2027 Strategic Plan, which aims to transform public transit to make it more efficient, effective, and accessible. The midibuses are the same color as our standard buses and are all equipped with Nomade and OPUS systems.

Dimensions du Midibus

A Fleet of Different-Sized Vehicles

Midibus

A midibus is a vehicle that is larger than a minibus, but smaller than a standard bus.

Good to know

Learn How to Use Them

When RTC introduces a new type of vehicle, customers need to adapt to a new way of doing things.

Front Door

The front door of the midibus opens when the bus is stopped.

Rear Door

To open the rear door of the bus, riders must wait for the two green buttons on the middle of the door to light up, then push one to open the door.

The interior layout of the vehicles has been optimized to provide a total of 24 seats. Midibuses have four seats that fold automatically to free up space as needed for people with reduced mobility.

Midibuses are equipped with an access ramp for people in wheelchairs. However, these buses must operate on an RTC accessible route for the access ramp to be deployed.

People in wheelchairs or with large strollers must use the rear door to board the midibus. Customers with umbrella strollers can board through the front door as usual.

Using the Rear Door

People with wheelchairs or large strollers can board through the rear door when the vehicle is in service on an accessible route.

Boarding Through the Rear Door

  • When the midibus pulls up to a stop, signal to the driver that you wish to board using the rear door.
  • Move to the rear door.
  • The driver will open the door for you.

Reserved Space on the Bus

  • Like standard and articulated vehicles, midibuses have spaces reserved for people in wheelchairs or with strollers.
  • The reserved space is on the driver side of the vehicle across from the rear door.
  • Strollers and wheelchairs must be placed across from the rear door against the support cushion.
